BENGALURU: A group of students from a prestigious college in Hessaraghatta, who hail from Kerala, have been accused of causing disturbances in the local community, particularly in the Dasarahalli Assembly constituency area.
They’re allegedly consuming ganja and liquor, and then creating a ruckus on the streets, harassing locals and engaging in rowdy behavior.

The students, staying in rented houses and PGs in areas like AGB Layout, Hesarghatta Main Road, and around the college, are accused of disturbing the peace, racing bikes, and using abusive language. Locals are feeling intimidated and harassed and some are even afraid to step out at night.

Despite complaints, the Soladevanahalli and Madanayaknahalli police seem to be turning a blind eye. Locals allege that ganja is being supplied to the students through tattoo and other shops near the college.

The situation has become a concern, with locals demanding action against the students and the police being urged to take steps to maintain law and order. “We are facing a lot of problems because of these students. They speed on the roads with their vehicles and cause problems for senior citizens”, said Kotresh, a local resident.

“Earlier, the locality was peaceful, but now it’s very noise due to the increase in the number of vehicles and paying guest accommodations. There is noise all through the night and elderly people are distrubed. They also create a lot of noise all through the night”, said Sujatha, another local resident.

“The students create nuisance and don’t even listen to us. If we complain to the police, they come and pacify the students. We have become a minority in this locality. People can’t even go to the park, we are fed up of this. There’s a lot of drug menace too”, said Shivaramaiah another resident.
