BENGALURU: The superhit movie ‘Kantara’ had set set a trend with many young vloggers starting to imitate the Panjurli, sometimes with all the trappings.

In a curious incident, the Tulunada diety Panjurli invocated on a student during the annual day of the Hombegowda PU College in Gayatri Nagar while he was performing a dance to the song ‘Varaharoopam’ from the movie ‘Kantara’ on Saturday.

The student Vishal was dancing dressed like the Panjurli daiva during the college event. When he started dancing to ‘Varaharoopam’, he was able to re-enact the dance from the movie. Suddenly, he got off the stage and started spinning  before audience, holding a weapon without his knowledge. Parents and teachers were bit surprised by the invocation of deity on the student. Some people tried to calm him down, but they could not. The organisers then stopped playing the song and Vishal took a while to get back to normal.

Now the video clip of Vishal dancing off the floor, screaming in front of the audience, is viral on social media.

Vishal said, “I had a wish to dedicate my dance to God. I didn’t know what was happening at that time. I hadn’t even imagined that it could happen like this. I felt some positive energy enter my body, and I could not control myself. I was practicing for the dance for the last 20-25 days. When I went into a trance, everyone around held me tight, but I was not aware of it. Some people were splashing water on me when I came back to my senses. I had prepared for the dance as per the guidance of choreographer”.
