BENGALURU: The Bengaluru Urban district deputy commissioner and additional district election officer Dayanand K A has announced that no political party can use children for their election campaign and work.
The Model Code of Conduct for the May 10 Assembly election is already in force and Dayanand K A said in a press release that if children under 18 years of age are used in activities such as political rallies, processions, public speeches, door-to-door campaigning, distribution of books, pamphlets and clothes with party symbols, then appropriate legal action will be taken against the political parties and the candidates.
The submission of nomination papers for the Assembly elections will start from April 13 and the last date to file a nomination is April 20. The papers will be verified on April 21 and the last day to withdraw nomination papers is April 24. Elections will be held on May 10 and the results will be announced on May 13. The Election Commission has already stated that voting will be held in a single phase for all the 224 Assembly constituencies.
