BENGALURU: A 7-year-old girl was killed, allegedly by her stepfather, by suffocating her in Kumbalgodu area on the outskirts of the city. The victim is Siri and the accused Darshan is now absconding.
He committed the crime when Siri’s mother Shilpa was out for work. Darshan, who had married Shilpa four months ago, reportedly got into an argument with her and killed Siri by suffocating her.
The police have launched an investigation. Deputy Commissioner of Police Anitha Haddannavar confirmed that Darshan is the prime suspect and is being tracked down. On the day of the incident, Shilpa had gone to work, and the girl, Siri, had gone to school. When Siri returned home at 4 pm, her stepfather, Darshan, allegedly suffocated her to death.
“When Shilpa returned home from work, she found her daughter dead, and Darshan locked her inside the house and ran away. Further investigation is needed to uncover more details after his arrest”, the DCP said.
