BENGALURU: The Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board on Friday announced the results of the PUC II examinations held across the state from March 9 to 29. While Tabassum Shaik of NMKRV PU College for Women in Jayanagar, Bengaluru, topped in the Arts stream with 593 marks, Ananya K A of Alva’s PU College, Moodabidri, topped in the Commerce stream with 600 marks and S M Koushik of Gangothri PU College, Srinivasapura, Kolar district, topped in Science with 596 marks.
Giving details, Board secretary Ritesh Singh said that this year, the pass percentage was 74.67 per cent with 5,24,209 students of the 7,02,067 who appeared for the exams passing out. The pass percentage has increased by 12.79 per cent over last years’ 61.88 per cent.
Dakshina Kannada was on top of the table with 95.33 per cent passing, followed by Udupi (95.24 pc) and Kodadu (90.55 pc). Yadgir was at the bottom of the table with 78.97 pass percentage.
Girls outshone boys yet again with 80.25 per cent of them clearing the exam while 69.05 per cent of the boys passed. Rural students have done slightly better (74.79 pc) than their urban peers (74.63 pc).
While 1,09,509 students have passed with distinction marks, 2,47,315 have passed in first class, 90,014 in second class and 77,371 students have passed in third class.

Across the state, 317 colleges have secured 100 per cent results including 47 government PU colleges, 10 aided colleges, 264 private colleges and one bifurcated college. Seventy eight colleges recorded nil pass percentage which include five aided colleges and 73 private colleges.
In the Arts stream, the pass percentage was 61.22 per cent with 1,34,876 students passing, in Commerce, it was 75.89 per cent (1,82,246) and Science 74.67 per cent (2,07, 087 students). This year, 15,000 students were awarded 5 per cent grace marks in the five marks scheme of valuation in chemistry.

The last date to apply for scanned copies of the answerscript is April 27 and the last date to apply for recounting/revaluation is May 8. Board chairman Ramachandran was also present during the announcement of the results.
