RAMANAGAR: The state government has finally suspended PSI Syed Tanveer Hussain of the Ijoor police station under pressure from lawyers who continued their protest overnight.
Lawyers had called for a ‘Vidhana Soudha Chalo’ on Thursday after the overnight protest at the district administration office in Ramanagara. After intensifying the protest, the government suspended PSI Syed Tanveer Hussain to avoid embarrassment as the lawyers got support across the state for their protest. It is expected that Home Minister G Parameshwara will officially announce the suspension of the PSI in the Assembly today.
The pro-Hindu activists had complained to the SP and the Bar Association after a lawyer posted criticism of a judge. An FIR was registered against lawyer Chand Pasha in this regard and he was arrested. The Bar Association had decided to take action against Chand Pasha considering it as contempt of court. At this time, Chand Pasha’s supporters met with the Bar Association and requested not to take action.
A person, Rafeeq Khan, lodged a complaint alleging that the lawyers had assaulted and threatened him when they went to appeal to the Bar Association. Following this, PSI Tanveer registered an FIR against 40 lawyers.
On the other hand, the lawyers alleged that the FIR was registered against those who were not even present at that time. Later, the lawyers staged a protest demanding the suspension of PSI. When there was no response from the government to the protest, the lawyers protested overnight in front of the DC office.
