BENGALURU: The state government plans to revamp the Majestic Bus Stand in Bengaluru and transform it into a high-tech intermodal transport hub. The iconic bus stand, which has been in operation for over 30 years, will be redeveloped under the ‘Project Majestic’ initiative through a public-private partnership (PPP) model.
The project aims to create a seamless travel experience for passengers by integrating city and intercity transport, Metro and railway services. The proposed hub will cover approximately 40 acres of land, including the existing KSRTC terminals 1, 2 and 3, and will feature a shopping complex, food courts, office spaces and other commercial facilities.
The KSRTC has invited tenders for appointing technical advisors to prepare a feasibility report, including site analysis, traffic activity analysis, market demand forecasting and environmental and social impact assessment.
Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy stated that the redevelopment plan was first conceived in 2016 under the leadership of D Devaraj Urs and R Gundu Rao. With around 10,000 buses operating from the bus stand daily, the redevelopment aims to address the space crunch and provide a modern transportation facility.
