BENGALURU: The state government has given in-principle approval for the Metro Phase-3 plan on Thursday, which will consist of two lines. The first line runs a length of 32 km from Kempapura to JP Nagar 4th Phase and the second line is 12 km from Hosahalli to Kadabagere.
The third phase of the Metro project is totally 44.65 km long and is estimated to cost Rs 13,000 crore. The Kempapura-JP Nagar 4th Phase line will have 22 stations, including interchange stations, while the Hosahalli-Kadabagere line will have nine stations. The BMRCL is also expecting 6.35 lakh ridership per day. The work is expected to be completed by 2028.
The state government will shortly seek approval for the project from the central government. Around 60 per cent of the Metro’s second phase of construction is complete. The DPR for Phase-3, presented by Namma Metro, has been approved by the state government and will now be sent to the Union Ministry of Urban and Housing Affairs.
“The state government has given in-principle approval for the Metro Phase-3 project. The DPR will be sent to the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, which will process the plan. We are hoping that they will approve the project soon. If they have doubts, they will ask us for clarification. If we get approval this year, we are hoping to complete the project by 2028”, said Anjum Parvez, Managing Director, Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL).
