BENGALURU: The Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examinations got off to a start across the state today. A total of 8,69,968 students are writing the exam with the first language paper being conducted today.
Across the state, there are 2,750 examination centres with 4,41,910 boys and 4,28,058 writing the exams. The social science paper will be held on March 27, Science on March 30, Mathematics on April 2, third language on April 4 and second language on April 6.
Along with the SSLC exams, the Primary Education Department is also conducting board exams for Classes 5, 8 and 9 for the remaining papers, from today. For Class 5, Environmental Science will be conducted on March 25 and Mathematics on March 26.
For Class 8, third language exam will be on March 25, Mathematics on March 26, Science on March 27 and Social Science on March 28. For Class 9, third language is on March 25, Mathematics on march 26, Science on March 27 and Social Science on March 28.
The SSLC students can write the exams in Kannada, English, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Urdu and Marathi languages. At all the SSLC examination centres, CCTVs have been installed and arrangements made for webcasting. Officials, staff and students are not allowed to carry their mobile phones to the exam centres and prohibitory orders are in force in a 200 metres radius with police security.
Directors and Deputy Directors have been named as in-charge for every district and the DIET principals will be the observers for the respective districts. DIET teachers have been named for the flying squads which are appointed at the district level.
