Srirangapatna police crack case of two chopped bodies of women, nab killer, companion

MANDYA: A missing person’s complaint lodged in Chamarajanagar led the Srirangapatna police to crack two murder cases where the decapitated bodies of two women were found in a canal two months ago.

Siddalingappa (35), hailing from Bengaluru, was involved in a relationship with Chandrakala, a relative of his wife. He induced her with cash and gold and through her, would target women who were linked to prostitution. He not only killed two women in Srirangapatna, but had also murdered another woman in Bengaluru.

On June 6, a decapitated body of a woman was found at the Baby lake near Mandya while another was found in a small canal near Arakere. The case had become a challenge for the police as the bodies were cut in half with the upper torso missing. There were no fresh missing cases registered and despite going through thousands of missing person’s cases, the police had hit a dead end.

On July 25, a missing person’s case was registered in Chamarajanagar regarding a woman who had been missing since July 3. Tracking the call logs, the police were able to trace the killer and unravelled the murder mystery.

Siddalingappa had killed a woman hailing from Chitradurga on May 30. He had killed the Chamarajanagar woman on July 3 after inviting her home and strangulating her. The duo had rented a house in Metagalli police limits in Mysuru. He then chopped the body and disposed it.

During questioning, he revealed that before killing the two women, he had killed another in Bengaluru. He also said that he and Chandrakala had plotted to kill five more women.
