The aged and disabled have a tough time visiting the mini Vidhana Soudha in Srirangapatna.

MANDYA: The mini Vidhana Soudha at Srirangapatna, which is the seat of administration in the taluk, can be a headache for the aged and physically disabled. The office is not disabled-friendly and people are put to avoidable hardship due to the negligence of officials.

The office has not ramps or even lifts for the benefit of the aged and Divyang people visiting there. There are hundreds of people, many of them aged, visiting the office every day for various works. There have been several instance where people have been carried in chairs and lifted on the shoulders of others to the upper floors.

Since a property owner himself has to be present for registration, many are demanding that the sub-registrar’s office be shifted to the ground floor or to install a lift. But the officials have remained unmoved, locals say.
