MYSURU: Squirrels are being trapped using crude barbed wire mesh right in the heart of the city near the wooded areas around the Deputy Commissioner’s office.

A squirrel caught in the mesh.

Some unidentified youths were caught on camera fixing barbed wires on a tree and catching squirrels which get entangled in the mesh.

One of the youths comes back with a cloth to catch the squirrel and walks away.

While trapping squirrels was not uncommon in rural areas, wildlife activists are aghast that such activities are happening right in the heart of the city and have demanded action.
