DAVANAGERE: Sportspersons training at the Sports School and Hostel here have complained that they are not getting adequate nurtitious food for the last 2-3 months.

The hostelers complain about lack of nutritious food.

The hostel has about 150 students in different age groups who are training in four disciplines — athletics, kho-kho, kabaddi and wrestling. The hostelers complained that they are not getting milk, eggs and fruits and dry fruits for nutrition.

The hostel has students of different age groups.

“This is a time when there are a lot of competitions in different categories at different levels, including the Dasara sports. If we don’t get nutritious food, we may sustain injuries and some even fall sick. The authorities should immediately rectify the situation”, one of the students said.

An official of the hostel said the problem started in June after changes were effected in the zilla panchayat zone and state zone. The zilla panchayat zone account was merged with the state zone. The kho-kho and kabbaddi trainees were first impacted as grants were not released. Now the others too are not getting nutritious food.

“We have complained to the deputy commissioner, the ZP CEO, the local MLA and MP. The issue is now being discussed at the state level and we hope it is resolved soon”, he added.
