Specially abled woman duped Rs 56 lakh by gymmate

BENGALURU: A specially abled woman from Kodigehalli was allegedly duped of Rs 56 lakh by a gymmate. The woman, who has lost control of her legs,  joined a local gym in order to get back to normal life. At the gym, she met Surendra Murthy.

Surendra Murthy told her that he liked her enthusiasm for life and even proposed to marry her. The woman was surprised and asked him to take some more time to think about her situation twice. But the gymmate promised her that he would be happy marrying her.

The specially abled woman believed his words and agreed to Surendra Murthy’s marriage proposal without thinking any further hesitation.

Surendra Murthy had come up with a new business plan by the time they fixed their wedding date. He told her that he had started a business and they wold marry once the business is up an running. The woman, who is financially sound, asked how much capital was needed and gave Rs 57 lakh to Surendra Murthy in stages.

After taking the money, Surendra Murthy remained unreachable and, in the meantime, he fixed his marriage with another woman. When the specially abled woman asked him to return her money, he refused.

The woman later lodged complaint against Surendra Murthy at the Kodigehalli police station who have taken up further investigation.
