BENGALURU: A day after the Lok Sabha election results, newly-elected BJP MP from Tumakuru, V Somanna, met JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy at the latter’s residence here on Wednesday.

After the meeting, Somanna, who addressed the media, said, “H D Deve Gowda and H D Kumaraswamy are the reasons why I contested the election. JD(S) is the main reason for my victory in Tumakur. I was brought up and trained at Deve Gowda’s garadi (gymnasium). The JD(S) supported our win not only Tumakuru, but all constituencies of the state. I am going to Mysuru today. I will go to Tumakuru today evening and tomorrow I will leave for Delhi. I come from a normal family. Politics is not life for us. Politics is just an opportunity to serve the people and I will be with the public using that opportunity. JDS is as much responsible for my victory as BJP”.
