TUMAKURU: An Indian Army soldier, who had returned home on vacation, was attacked by a group of five men after he asked them to allow him to pass through, near Byrenahalli Cross in Koratagere taluk on Tuesday. The police have arrested two of the attackers so far.
The soldier, Govindaraju (30), is posted in Rajauri district of Jammu and Kashmir and had recently returned home in Rayavara on leave. A group of five men had blocked the road near a shop and when Govindaraju, who was on his way to Berenahalli Cross, asked to be let through, the drunk men attacked him with liquor bottles.
The attackers were identified as Bharat (29) of Arasapura in Koratagere taluk, Puneeth (32) of Kodagadala in Madhugiri taluk, Gowrishankar (32) of Hunasawadi, Shiva (32) and Dileep (35) of Battagere near Kodigenahalli. The police have so far arrested Puneeth and Barath and are on the lookout for the others.
