BENGALURU: A software engineer was killed and another injured after being run over by a Hyundai Creta car on Kanakapura Road at Vasantapura Cross around 3 am on May 10 over a trivial reason. The deceased techie was Sanjay, and the injured is Karthik.
The arrested accused is Pratik. The police initially thought it was an accident, but after reviewing CCTV footage, they discovered the truth and arrested Pratik.
Sanjay, a software employee, and his friend Karthik had stepped out of their house between work for tea at a roadside shop. At this time, Pratik, who arrived there, asked Sanjay to bring him cigarettes while sitting inside the Creta car to which Sanjay refused.
An argument ensued, but was eventually calmed down by nearby shopkeepers. However, Pratik, still angry, drove his car at high speed and crashed into the bike Sanjay and Karthik were riding on, killing Sanjay on the spot and injuring Karthik.
Despite the tragic circumstances, Sanjay’s family showed humanity by donating his organs. Sanjay, the son of Kamalamma and Narayana from Honnavar village in Hassan district, was a resident of Bengaluru. After his death, his family chose to donate his organs to Aster RV Hospital in Bengaluru.
Police said the accused Pratik and wife were in the car at the time of the incident and were returning from a birthday party. The role of the accused’s wife is yet to be investigated.
