Six of nine injured in BBMP lab fire recovering in hospital

BENGALURU: Six of the nine people injured in the fire that broke out at the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) quality control lab, who were undergoing treatment at the Victoria Hospital are recovering.

In the next two days, doctors will take a decision regarding their discharge after checking their health status. Over the last five days, the nine injured are being treated at the Victoria Hospital for burn injuries, three of whom are in critical condition.

The injured staff were administered first aid at St Martha’s Hospital and then shifted to Victoria Hospital.

One of the injured, Kiran, is a dialysis patient, and on the guidance of a nephrologist, doctors have treated him for burn injuries after dialysis. Another staffer, Jyothi and chief engineer Shivakumar are suffering from breathing problems and are undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit.

The others Manoj, Srinivas, Seeraj, Sridhar, Santhosh Kumar and Vijayamala have suffered 11 per cent to 24 per cent burn injuries and there is no problem with their internal organs.
