BENGALURU: The Karnataka Media Academy on Monday presented the annual awards for the years 2019-2022 for excellence in journalism to six journalists from Public TV, including its founder-chairman H R Ranganath. The award presentation ceremony was held at Ravindra Kalakshetra here.
H R Ranganath was presented the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ for the year 2021, in recognition of his contributions in the media field. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai presented the award to him.
The CM conferred the annual awards to Public TV Editor-in-Chief Divakar C (2019), Executive Editor Anand V (2020), Mysuru correspondent K P Nagaraj (2021) and Belagavi correspondent Dilip Kurandavade (2022).
Apart from this, Sharanu Hullur of Public TV Digital’s Entertainment section received the ‘Aragini’ award, for excellence in in Cinema journalism.
The recipients of the annual and endowment awards for the four years (2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022) had been selected in a four members meeting, was chaired by Academy chairman Sadashiva Shenoy.
The Lifetime Achievement Award carries a purse of Rs 50,000 while the annual award winners got Rs 25,000 each and a plaque. The annual awards were given to 124 journalists for four years while 21 journalists had received endowment awards.
