BENGALURU: Six people have ended their lives after suffering huge losses in online gaming and gambling over the lat four years, the state Home ministry has informed the Assembly. Of them, the highest number of five were reported in Bengaluru.
Not only the IPL season, many people are on to online cricket betting, online gambling like rummy and other games. Some who end up incurring huge losses are driven to suicide.
As per the Home ministry figures, in 493 cases were registered in connection with online betting in 2023 and 348 cases in 2024. Of these, the highest number of 278 cases were booked in Bengaluru followed by 213 cases in Hubballi-Dharwad.
