Six arrested for gangraping Kolkata woman in Madanayakanahalli

BENGALURU: Six people have been arrested by Madanayakanahalli police for gangraping a woman who hails from Kolkata, by posing as police informers.

The accused, identified as Naveen, Kartik, Suyog, Seena, Jangli and Prithvi, allegedly entered the woman’s house, claiming to be looking for drugs and gangraped her.

The victim, a native of Kolkata, had recently moved to Gangondanahalli on the outskirts of Bengaluru in search of work. The accused, who were drunk, barged into house, stole the woman’s mobile phone and Rs 50,000 in cash, assaulted a man with a bat in the house, and dragged the woman to a nearby house where they committed the crime.

Police are currently searching for the prime accused, Mithun. The arrested individuals were reportedly domestic workers in the vicinity of the victim’s residence, and investigations are ongoing.
