BENGALURU: The city has been experiencing heavy rainfall, causing chaos in the city. Amidst this, a sink hole appeared at Bashyam Circle in Rajajinagar, leaving commuters in panic. The police have barricaded the area as a precaution.
On one hand, there are potholes on the roads, inviting danger and on the other, waterlogging on roads. On Tuesday, a physically challenged woman, who was riding a modified two-wheeler, fell after hitting a pothole on Sarjapur Road in Varthur.
At Bhashyam Circle, a three-foot wide and four-to-five foot deep sink hole has formed in the middle of the road. It’s suspected that the soil beneath the road surface may have weakened, leading to the collapse. With heavy rainfall predicted, there’s a possibility of further damage. Surprisingly, the road collapsed even before asphalt laid to fill potholes on the road could dry.
If the rain intensifies and more of roads collapse, commuters may face risk. Commuters have been advised to be careful while travelling through this area. The authorities have put up barricades to prevent accidents.
