Singer Bombay Jayashi undergoes surgery after suffering brain haemorrhage while on UK tour

BENGALURU: Well-known Carnatic vocalist, singer and musician Bombay Jayashri, who is on a tour of the UK, was found unconscious in her hotel room after suffering a brain haemorrhage and was immediately rushed to a hospital. She was scheduled to perform at the The Tung Auditorium, University of Liverpool, on Friday evening.

According to the family, she had a health setback in the UK where she is touring. She underwent a surgical procedure for an aneurysm. “She received timely medical intervention thanks to the capable staff at the NHS and her accompanying artistes. She is currently stable and recovering well, she requires rest for a couple of days”, the family said in a social media post of Jayashri’s account.

Jayashri apparently complained of neck pain on Thursday evening itself. She didn’t turn up for breakfast and lunch and on checking her room she was found in an unconscious state. She was immediately rushed to a hospital and will be brought to Chennai for further treatment.

Bombay Jayashri has sung in different languages including Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi and presented many concerts. She has also won the Padma Shri among several awards.
