Siddaramaiah took oath as CM while D K Shivakumar took oath as Deputy CM.

BENGALURU: Congress legislature party leader Siddaramaiah on Saturday took oath as Chief Minister of Karnataka in the name of God. In 2013 too, Siddaramaiah had taken oath at the Kanteerava Stadium when he became Chief Minister for the first time.

Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot greeted Siddaramaiah and D K Shivakumar after they were administered oath of office on Saturday.

Congress state president D K Shivakumar took oath as Deputy Chief Minister in the name of Gangadhara Ajja at the swearing-in ceremony held at the Sri Kanteerava Stadium. They were administered oath of office and secrecy by Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot who also greeted them with bouquets after they were sworn in.

Following this, senior leaders G Parameshwara, K H Muniyappa, K J George, M B Patil, Satish Karkiholi, Priyank Kharge, Ramalinga Reddy and B Z Zameer Ahmed Khan were sworn in as Cabinet rank ministers.

They were all greeted by Governor Gehlot, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar.

The Congress top brass including the Gandhi family members – Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, party’s national president Mallikarjun Kharge Chief Ministers of the Congress-ruled states including Himachal CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot, and Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel attended the event.

Chief Ministers of Congress-ruled states and other Opposition leaders attended the event.

Opposition leaders including Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his Deputy Tejashwi Yadav, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Ministers Mehbooba Mufti and Farooq Abdullah, NCP chief Sharad Pawar, CPM leader Sitaram Yechury, and actor and Makkal Needhi Maiam chief Kamal Haasan attended the swearing-in ceremony of the newly-elected Congress government in Karnataka.

Ahead of the ceremony, Rahul Gandhi, Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah were seen holding each other’s hands in the air as a show of strength and unity.
