SI injured in stone-pelting during Ganesha idol immersion procession

Ten people have been arrested so far for stone-pelting.

CHAMARAJANAGAR: A police sub-inspector sustained injuries in the head after stones were pelted during a Ganesha idol immersion procession in the town on Sunday night. The police have arrested 10 people and registered cases against more than 25 people.

A group of youths were taking out a procession in Uppara street here around 10 pm with loud music. When the police warned them that playing loud music is not allowed after 10 pm, the crowd did not heed the police and instead raised the volume of the music system.

One Mahendra, who was in the crowd, also threw stones in which hit sub-inspector Mahadev. The police officer has been admitted to the district hospital for treatment.
