CHIKKAMAGALUR: The staff of an automobile showroom were caught on camera siphoning off diesel from a demo vehicle and selling it to locals at Kottigehara. The commercial vehicle was being driven to Kadur from Mangaluru.
The driver and helper of the showroom stopped the demo vehicle between Kottigehara and Banakal in Mudigere taluk and siphoned out about 10 litres of diesel from the diesel pump. They then sold the diesel to some local shops.
According to locals, the driver and helper consumed alcohol and had a non-veg meal with the money made from selling the diesel siphoned from the vehicle.
