The Shobha Yatra was held amid tight security.

CHITRADURGA: The police had made elaborate security arrangements for the Shobha Yatra organised by the Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishat (VHP) as part of the Ganesha idol immersion procession today.

As part of the security arrangements, six, Additional SP, 20 Deputy SPs, 50 police inspectors, 120 sub-inspectors, 167 ASIs, 1,886 head constables and police constables, 500 Home Guards, 10 KSRP and 12 DAR battalions and four ART teams, totalling about 2,500 policemen, were deployed.

The Shobha Yatra, which started around 11 am, will go on till 10 pm from Jain Dham to Chandravalli. Along the procession route, 26 watch towers were set up, 150 CCTV cameras installed along with five drone cameras and sky sentries.

Traffic movement on BD Road was restricted for the day and barricades set up at different locations in the city. Deputy Commissioner T Venkatesh has also ordered a ban on the sale of liquor on Saturday.

During the event, a fan of actor Darshan turned up with a flag bearing his image at Madakari Circle which the Bajrang Dal activists took away and handed it over to the police.
