BENGALURU: Daughter of former chief minister S Bangarappa and wife of Kannada star Shivarajkumar, Geetha Shivarajkumar on Friday joined the Congress in the presence of party state president D K Shivakumar. Geetha Shivarajkumar was earlier associated with the Janata Dal (Secular).
Soon after joining the party, she vowed to campaign for the party for the upcoming Assembly election. From Saturday, she will campaign for her younger brother Madhu Bangarappa in Soraba constituency. ‘Century Star’ Shivarajkumar has extended his support to Geetha.
On Friday morning, Geetha proceeded from her house in Nagawara to her brother Madhu Bangarappa’s house in Sadashivnagar from where they proceeded to the KPCC office. She said she believes that the schemes announced by Rahul Gandhi will help the people and sought blessings of the people for her brother.
Congress state president D K Shivakumar said, “Today is a special day and I cut short my trip and returned from Mangaluru. I had tried to bring her into the party several times, but I couldn’t, now Rahul Gandhi’s programmes have succeeded in bringing her to the party”
Meanwhile, Shivarajkumar will also campaign for Madhu Bangarappa in Soraba and in Sirsi for Bhima Naik. He said he will participate in campaigns as much as possible between his movie and reality show commitments.
