KARWAR: A section of National Highway-66, which witnessed a major landslide near Shirur recently, has been opened to traffic, albeit with some curbs. This comes 17 days after the landslide.

The district administration has said that heavy vehicles can travel at 20 kmph along the stretch and no vehicle will be allowed to stop. The move has been taken based on the warning from the Geological Survey of India of further landslides.

On July 16, a landslide occurred at Shirur, washing away 11 people. While the bodies of eight people were found, a search is continuing for the remaining three.
