BENGALURU: Christmas is round the corner and cakes are very much part of the festival. Cakes on different themes, especially the Shakti free bus travel scheme for women and the new Parliament building, are attracting large crowds at the annual cake show at St Joseph School Grounds, opposite UB City here.
This is the 49th annual Bangalore Cake Show 2023, by the Institute of Baking and Cake Art. The team has created around 25 art pieces in cake this year. On display is spectacular sugarcraft including the new Parliament House, Shakti scheme (free bus ride), Durga Devi, Chhatrapathi Shivaji Maharaj, giraffe, red velvet, Barbie-themed cakes, and many others.
State Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy viewed the Shakti Yojana cake. The cakes are lifelike and attract huge crowds. The show is open to the public from 11 am to 9 pm. Children and women queue up to take selfies with the different exhibits.
Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy said, “Gautham Agarwal and his team made a variety of cakes with certain themes, including the government’s Shakti scheme, to attract people. I appreciate the organisers for the 49th cake show and the Baking and Cake Art team for their effort.”
Manish of Institute of Baking and Cake Art said the institute is women-oriented and the cakes were made by women. “This is just a representation of women’s strengths. It was a very proud moment for Indians to witness the launch of ‘Chandrayaan-3’ this year. We have recreated comic characters like Chacha Chaudhari and historical figures like Shivaji Maharaj. Children will also love some of their favourite doll characters like Barbie doll, Mario, Lego, animals and birds, dogs on wedding cake, shopping camel, depicted in the cakes”, he said.
