BENGALURU: A woman, who had hired a Rapido bike taxi jumped off the two-wheeler allegedly due to sexual assault by the rider. She also sustained injuries in the process. The incident occurred at Nagenahalli in Yelahanka on April 21, but has come to light only now.
The woman, who works as an architect with a private firm, had booked a ride from Yelahanka to Indiranagar and the Rapido rider snatched her phone on the pretext of taking the one-time password (OTP).
Enroute, he allegedly started sexually harassing her. In her bid to escape, she jumped off the speeding two-wheeler when it went over a speedbreaker, and sustained injuries. Some passersby then came to her aid while the Rapido rider fled.
The woman later lodged a complaint with the Yelahanka New Town police who have arrested Deepak Rao, a native of Andhra Pradesh. Further investigation is under way.
