MANGALURU: A volleyball coach at a private college was arrested for allegedly sexually harassing Hindu girl students. Shockingly, activists of Hindu groups who confronted him, found several intimate and explicit videos of the accused in his phone.
Syed, the vollyball coach at PUC college in Ujire and resident of Karkala in Belthangady taluk of Dakshina Kannada district, was allegedly harassing a Hindu girl student by texting her. Following this, Hindu activists confronted him found several intimate videos with Hindu girls on his phone. They later handed Syed over to the Belthangady police who arrested him and booked him under the POCSO Act.
Dakshina Kannada Police Superintendetn Yathish N said a girl student of a PU college in Ujire, who hails from Somwarpet taluk in Kodagu district, had lodged a complaint that Syed was harassing her to send him explicit photographs. She said that she had met him at the sport club and alleged that he would trail her to commit sexual harassment, the SP said.
“The Belthangady police have arrested him and registered a case under the POCSO Act. We have not checked exactly how many such videos there are on his phone and we cannot reveal the identities of the girls. If more people come forward, we will register their complaints”, the SP added.
