BENGALURU: Several two-wheelers and an autorickshaw were burnt in a freak incident on Dharmaraya Temple Street at Thigalarpet in the city on Thursday afternoon where the 10-day Karaga festivities have been going on. The celebration concludes on Thursday night.

On Thursday afternoon, devotees had lit huge blocks of camphor all along a 700-mt stretch from N R Square junction all the way up to the Dharmaraya temple. Due to the intensity of the heat from the burning camphor blocks, several two-wheelers that were parked along the road were burnt.

The devotees and police quickly got into action and put out the fire before anymore damage could be done. Some locals said that announcements were made on loudspeaker requesting the vehicle owners to clear the area, but the vehicles were not moved.
