HASSAN: Seven people sustained injuries, two of them seriously, when a truck jumped the road median and crashed into a shed at Ballupet village in Sakleshpur taluk on Wednesday night. The truck driver is also among the injured.
The 16-wheeler truck, carrying cement bags, was on its way from Mangaluru to Bengaluru. Due to the poor condition of the road near Ballupet, the driver lost control and the truck ploughed into a shed wherein labourers were sleeping. Traffic on the stretch was affected for some time due to the accident.
The injured Farhan, Haider, Neharuddin and two others were shifted to Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS). The truck driver Shekar, hailing from Andhra Pradesh, and the shed owner Chandrashekar Shetty, who were seriously injured, were shifted to Bengaluru. Four others escaped as they were loading arecanut to a goods vehicle.
The Sakleshpur Rural police visited the spot and have registered a case.
