CHIKKODI: Seven people have been arrested in connection with disrobing a woman and assaulting her son, at Ainapur village in Kagwad taluk. The woman was partially disrobed and her son brutally assaulted for questioning encroachment of their land by land sharks a couple of days ago.
Following the incident the tahsildar had visited the village promised survey of the disputed land and action against those guilty.
Ramappa Bheemappa Naganur was granted 3 acres of land by the government in 1991 which the family has been cultivating ever since. However, recently, Subhash Danolli, Suresh Danolli, Mayappa Halyal of Ainapur village allegedly encroached upon 20 guntas of Ramappa’s land along with a piece of land earmarked for a road.
When Ramappa’s wife Jayashree questioned the encroachment, she was abused in foul language and partially disrobed. Her son Murari was also brutally attacked by the land sharks.
Ramappa’s daughter Sunitha Naganur had complained to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah regarding the encroachment following which the CM had directed the Kagwad tahsildar to evict the encroachment. However, no action had been taken, it is alleged.
Following the incident, tahsildar S B Ingale visited Ainapur village on Thursday and consoled Ramappa’s family. He also promised to get a survey of the land done and to take action against the guilty. Additional SP Shruthi, Deputy SP Sripad also visited the spot and met Ramappa’s family.
The tahsildar said they have taken all details from the family and added that a fresh survey of the land will be conducted to clear the encroachment.
