RAICHUR: Five houses were broken into on the same night and articles worth lakhs stolen at Virupapura village in Sindhanur taluk on Sunday. The thieves struck after making sure that there was no one inside the houses at that time.
Two of the houses were locked while in the other three, the family members were sleeping on the terrace. The thefts occurred in the houses belonging to Hotel Shankaragouda, Mallanna Bappur, Shivanna Angadi, Hanumanta Bevaninamani and Dr Shankaradouda Bappur. The thieves have made away with cash, 200 gm of gold jewellery and silver articles.
The village woke up on Monday to the shock of the serial theft. The Sindhanur Rural police visited the spot and have registered a case. Further investigation is under way.
