BENGALURU: A senior citizen was brutally murdered by his employee and gold worth crores and cash were stolen from his house in Chamarajpet area on Wednesday.

Jugraj Jain (77), who originally hailed from Rajasthan, was the owner of Deepam Electricals in Chamarajpet. For the last four years, he was staying in a flat at Kings Enclave apartment on 4th Cross, Chamarajpet.

He has two sons, Anand and Prakash, and was living with Anand in the apartment. The son had gone to Goa on a business visit while the daughter-in-law was at her parental home in Shikaripura along with her children.

After closing business for the day, Jugraj returned home along with his employee Bijoram. No one else was in the house. The murder is suspected to have been committed around midnight. Bijoram threw chilli powder at Jugraj’s face, tied up his limbs and strangled him to death. He then looted the house of gold and cash, and took them in two bags, but left behind about 26 kg of silver.

Senior police officials including Additional Commissioner of Police Sandeep Patil and DCP Sanjeev Patil visited the spot. A special team has been formed to nab the culprit, the DCP said.
