BENGALURU: Following the strikes by the Indian armed forces on terror bases inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) under Operation Sindoor, security has been heightened at the M Chinnaswamy stadium in the city.
The stadium is hosting matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and is the home turf of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) franchise. About 70 policemen have been posted at all the gates of the stadium who are keeping a watch 24/7 in shifts.
States have been directed to enhance security at places where more people congregate and at vital installations. On Wednesday, mock drills were carried out in the city to check civil defence preparedness.
The Minor and Major Irrigation Departments have also been directed to coordinate with the jurisdictional police and ensure security at the 17 major reservoirs in the state. In case of any lapses, the project officer concerned or the dam in-charge will be held responsible.
Directions in this regard have been issued to the chief engineers and managing directors of the Cauvery Neeravari Nigam Ltd, Karnataka Neeravai Nigam Ltd, Krishna Bhagya Jala Nigam Ltd, Visvesvaraya Jala Nigam Ltd, chief engineer, irrigation (south), Mysuru, Hemavathi canal zone, Tumakuru, Hemavathi project, Gorur, Upper Tunga project, Shivamogga, Malaprabha project, Dharwad, Munirabad zone, irrigation zones in Belagavi and Kalaburagi, Upper Bhadra project, Chitradurga, Almatti reservoir, Bheemarayanagudi Canal 1 and Rampura Canal 2, and Narayanapura dam.
