BENGALURU: A security guard at a hospital was caught on camera spraying petrol on stray dogs with a syringe to drive them away. The dogs were lying outside the hospital premises and the incident occurred at National Unani Hospital in Kottigepalya.
When asked about the act, the security guard backtracked claiming that he did not put petrol on the dog, but chased them away on the instructions of his senior as stray dog menace had increased.
The security guard claimed that his superior instructed him to spray petrol on the dogs to drive them away. He admitted that it was wrong to use petrol, but claimed that he did not put it on the dog, but by its side.
Gulamuddin, in charge of the National Unani Hospital, said, “This is a central government hospital. We did not instruct anyone to spray petrol on dogs. Doing so is a big mistake and we will investigate this matter. The security in charge gave instructions and did this, which is wrong. We will take action. We have called BBMP multiple times to take away the dogs. They come and take the dogs away in a van”.
The hospital in-charge stressed that he never told the security guards to spray petrol on the dogs.
