BENGALURU: A security guard was murdered while another was injured after they were attacked with rods by a gang of thieves near Srirampura in Jigani on Thursday night.
The deceased has been identified as Maqbool Ali (45) while Rashidul Islam suffered injuries. The two were working as security guards at Ideal Hi-Tech Township.
On Thursday night, a gang of 6-7 thieves had landed there to steal construction material. When the guards confronted them, the gang hit them with iron rods, tied their hands and legs and gagged them with adhesive tape.
Rashidul Islam told reporters that a gang of about eight people came up from behind around 12.20 am when they were talking, choked them and threw them to the ground.
“They tied us up and gagged us. When we tried to free ourselves, I was hit on the head with a rod. Then I pretended to have fall unconscious. They beat up Maqbool Ali also. Later, they dumped us near a tree. After they had left, I came to my post and informed by friends who called up 112. We then went looking for Maqbool and found him dead”.
The Jigani police visited the spot and have taken up further investigation.
