Section of Londa-Goa road goes under water, traffic affected

Some drivers risked going through 3-4 feet of water.

BELAGAVI: With heavy rain continuing to lash the Western Ghats, the road connecting the border town of Londa in the district to Goa was submerged in water on Thursday morning. Vehicles had a tough time navigating through knee-deep water at some stretches.

A tractor had even overturned.

A large amount of water suddenly flowed down the hills from the forest, inundating the road. Several car drivers and motorcycle riders ignored the danger and drove through the water. One tractor had even overturned.

Locals used an excavator to clear the road of the water.

Traffic movement on the road was affected for some time. Locals later got excavators to clear the way for the water to flow after which traffic resumed.
