MANGALURU: The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has announced that Shafi Bellare will contest the upcoming Assembly election from Puttur Assembly constituency in Dakshina Kannada district.Shafi Bellare is the main accused in Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) worker Praveen Nettaru’s murder case.
The announcement was made by SDPI state president Abdul Majeed Khan at the SDPI meeting in Puttur. The SDPI is the political wing of the banned Popular Front of India (PFI).
Shafi Bellare is currently under arrest by the NIA in the Praveen Nettaru murder case. Shafi is SDPI’s state general secretary.
