BENGALURU: Severe waterlogging was reported on the Sakra Hospital road behind Ecospace on Sunday after overnight rain in the city.

In the first week of September, Ecospace and Sakra Hospital Road were severely waterlogged, causing significant damage and problems for citizens. The government had then come up with a plan to demolish all structures built on rajakaluves, to facilitate easy flow of water. The BBMP has taken measures to prevent waterlogging on the Outer Ring Road in front of Ecospace, but the corporation has not taken any measures to prevent waterlogging on Sakra Hospital road.

After the overnight rain, the Rajakaluve along Sakra Hospital Road overflowed once again as encroachments have not been cleared. Also, there is no retaining wall to prevent water from overflowing on to the road. The rajakaluve is filled with silt, causing severe waterlogging in the road.

Residents finding it difficult to cross the waterlogged road.

People are facing difficulties crossing waterlogged roads, especially motorists and residents of the area who rely on the same road for commuting as there is no alternative road.

Sharath Kumar, a local resident.

“We commute on the same road every day, and it is difficult for us to cross the road. There is no retaining wall for the rajakaluves. The CM had visited once to check the road, but there was no development after that. Even now, water overflows from the rajakaluve, causing trouble for commuters. The hospital is on the same road. If the authorities do not take any action, more problems will be caused and there will be more dangers,”said Sharath Kumar, a resident of the locality.
