BENGALURU: Cubbon Park, which was once a green oasis, is now gradually losing its beauty in recent years due to several reasons. To prevent environmental pollution, the Horticulture Department has implemented several rules in the park.

Only bikes, cars and ambulances are allowed inside the park. However, despite this rule, many people are still bringing in autos, lorries and even buses. Boards have been placed at all gates informing visitors of the rules, but people are still flouting them.

As a result, the Horticulture Department has started imposing fines of Rs 500 on those who are not following the rules. This is being done to prevent environmental pollution and maintain the beauty of the park.

Additionally, visitors who are also spoiling the beauty of the park by throwing plastic bags, water bottles and food waste are also being fined. This is being done to maintain the cleanliness of the park, said Kusuma G, Deputy Director of the Horticulture Department.

Two dog owners were fined for letting their dogs defecate in the park and not cleaning up after them. This rule is being enforced to maintain the cleanliness and beauty of the park, she added.

A vendor selling corn and ice cream inside the park without permission was also fined. The park authorities are taking these measures to protect the environment and maintain the park’s beauty, the officer added.
