BENGALURU: Customs officials at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) have seized cash of over Rs 50 lakh and gold weighing over 800 gm in separate cases. The passengers have been arrested and are being questioned.
The officials seized cash of Rs 51,95,500 in Rs 500 notes which was being transported in the check-in baggage of a passenger. The passenger was to travell from KIA on flight OD 242 when he was intercepted.
In another instance, gold weighing 824.67 gm was seized from a passenger who arrived from Dubai. The value of the seized gold is said to be Rs 50,79, 967. Cases have been registered in both cases and further investigation is under way.
