Rs 2 lakh c employment package, major initiatives for youth, women in first 100 days of Modi 3.0

NEW DELHI: The Modi 3.0 government has implemented several schemes for the youth and women in its first 100 days since the formation of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government at the Centre for the third consecutive time in last June.

These included a Rs 2 lakh crore PM package to promote employment and skill development among the youth and the formation of more than 90 lakh self-help groups (SHGs) under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana — National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) for women, which had helped 10 crore women to promote financial inclusion, digital literacy, sustainable livelihoods and social development measures, as per government sources.

According to the sources, the Modi 3.0 government had issued certificates to 11 lakh new women under the Lakhpati Didi Scheme and now more than one crore Lakhpati Didis earn over Rs 1 lakh per year. For the youth, the government has announced internship opportunities as well as allowances to 1 crore youth at top organisations, with a target to skill up to 20 lakh youth and also improve 1,000 industrial training institutes.

The central government had also announced over 15,000 new appointments and for the first time, the employees covered under the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) will receive an incentive amount of up to Rs 15,000 that will be provided in three installments, as per the sources.

Employees earning up to Rs 1 lakh will also benefit from the government’s contribution to EPFO. For women, the government had released a Rs 2,500 crore Community Investment Fund that had benefitted 48 lakh members of 4.3 lakh SHGs and further approved bank loans worth Rs 5,000 crore, benefiting 25.8 lakh members of 2,35,400 SHGs, the sources added.

As per the source, the Modi 3.0 government also increased the capital expenditure to Rs 11.11 lakh crore for job creation and will provide financial and tax incentives for startups and MSMEs. The government has also integrated the e-Shram portal and the development of 12 industrial nodes to promote new industries and create employment. For women, the amount under the MUDRA loan has been increased from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 20 lakh.

Results of Lok Sabha Elections 2024 were announced on June 4 and Prime Minister Narendra Modi took oath of offcie on June 9. The elections were held between April 19 and June 1 in seven phases.(ANI)
