BENGALURU: The Karnataka Tourism Department has proposed a guided tour of Vidhana Soudha, the grand state legislature building, with an entry fee of Rs 150 per person. The proposal has been submitted to the chief secretary of the government.
The proposal includes dividing tourists into groups of 30 and assigning Tourism Department officials to oversee each group. Also, tourist officers will be appointed by the Tourism Department to supervise each of these groups.
The fee will cover guide services, additional security personnel and maintenance costs. However, Speaker U T Khader has objected to the high fee, suggesting instead a fee of Rs 20-50 per person. Khader has written a letter to the Tourism Department Secretary and instructed them to revise the expensive fee.
A meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh will discuss the proposal, including the entry fee, tourist guidelines, security, entry limits and restrictions. The meeting will also finalise the guided tour package fee and ensure that it is reasonable for the general public.
