BIDAR: The police have seized Rs 14 lakh in cash and tobacco products worth Rs 4 lakh which were being transported illegally in a truck at the Ambewadi border checkpost in Hulsur taluk. The truck was on its way to Maharashtra.
The police also arrested two men, Kallappa and Shambhu, as they failed to produce proper documents for the cash and the tobacco products. They are now investigating into the source of the cash and a case has been registered at the Hulsur police station.
With the Lok Sabha election approaching, transportation of unaccounted money is increasing. In the light of this, checking has been intensified at the border check posts.
