BIDAR: Ahead of the upcoming Assembly polls, the Bidar police have seized Rs 1.05 crore worth of undocumented silver articles at the Maharashtra border on Friday.
During checking of vehicles at the checkpost, 142 kg of silver anklets and silver jewellery worth Rs 1. 5 crore and a car were seized. A total of 142 kg of silver jewellery was being transported in eight bags in a car belonging to one Gajanana.
An FIR was registered against the car owner, as he did not provide proper documents for the silver jewellery. It is suspected that the jewellery was being taken to be distributed to voters ahead of the Assembly election. A case has been registered at the Aurad police station in this connection.
