Rowdy hacked to death over old rivalry, assailants shot at by cops

BENGALURU: A rowdy, who was released from jail, was hacked to death on the same day by a rival group at Janata Colony in JJ Nagar area in the city over previous enmity. The deceased was identified as Vijay (26).

The police investigation is under way, and Inspector Kempegowda opened fire at the accused, Deepu (28) and Arun (27), hitting them in the leg in RR Nagar when they tried to assault the police.

The suspects had brutally murdered Vijay after calling him for a talk, assaulted him in a remote area and brutally murdered him. The police had registered a case and were tracking the suspects, who were hiding in a deserted area in RR Nagar.

When the police tried to apprehend the suspects, they attacked the police with deadly weapons. Inspector Kempegowda warned them by firing a shot in the air, but they continued to attack. In self-defence, police shot them in the leg and took them into custody. Both the injured police personnel and the suspects were admitted to the hospital.

Western Division DCP Giri S said, “On Saturday, Vijay was murdered in JJ Nagar’s Janata Colony. We had information that the accused were hiding in RR Nagar. During the arrest, the accused attacked the police. We fired shots in the air in self-defence, but they continued to attack, and we were forced to fire again. The deceased, Vijay, a resident of JJ Nagar, had a history of involvement in criminal cases and had been released from jail just yesterday. The injured accused and police personnel are receiving treatment”.
